To the editor:

Thank you to all of the staff at The Dickson Herald for your work in 2011.

It is refreshing to read a that does a great job on reporting what is going on in the county and allows different viewpoints and opinions to be heard. In particular, Officer Coles columns have also been great source on how to make our community a better and safer place to live. The stories on the community, elections, candidates, schools, etc. have all kept us informed about the county in which we live.

Our Founding Fathers were wise men to put protection of a free press in our federal and state Constitutions. Tennessees Declaration of Rights, in Section 19 declares, That the printing press shall be free to every person to examine the proceedings of the Legislature; or of any branch or officer of the government, and no law shall ever be made to restrain the right thereof. The free communication of thoughts and opinions, is one of the invaluable rights of man and every citizen may freely speak, write, and print on any subject, being responsible for the abuse of that liberty.

By debating issues, and sharing the cts, we help to ensure that our nation remains a free and strong nation. Every media source has a sacred responsibility to cilitate the free flow of accurate information. Without newss that were willing to report opinions and cts, we would probably still be living in a British colony. When people see the truth, by Gods help, we can make the right decisions, or at least better ones.

Thank you Dickson Herald for your efforts to continue our founders vision of a free press.

Thank you also for printing not only headline-type stories, some Kim Kardashianof which are very tragic and heart-breaking, but stories about the multitude of good things and good deeds going on in our county.

Occupy Nashville

Keep up with the protests at Legislative Plaza and the legal battles surrounding them.

New Life Lodge

A womans death while in New Life Lodges care has stirred up questions about oversight, overcrowding and just how many patients there have died.
