iPhone more searched than Kardashian on Yahoo in 2011

TheiPhonetopped every celebrity, every natural disaster, every political upheaval to earn the top spot at the most searched term on Yahoo in 2011.

The Yahoo Year In Review list, now in its 10th year, has only once before had a tech gadget come in at No. 1. And that happened in the first year of the review, when SonysPlayStation2 topped the chart.

iPhone 4S

Subsequent years have seen Britney Spears come in first. She actually landed the top spot every year from 2005 to 2008. Michael Jackson took the top spot in 2009. And last year, the BP oil spill was the most searched phrase.

TheiPods ascension came in a year with much speculation about what the newest version of the iPhone would look like and when Apple would released it. The company ultimatelyunveiled the iPhone 4Sin October. Interest in the device no doubt increased as Apple chief executive and co-founder Steve Jobsstepped down from the companyin August andpassed awayin October.

TheKim Kardashian results differ fromdata collected by Microsoftregarding the most widely searched terms on Bing in 2011. Microsoft compiled the data slightly differently than Yahoo, not listing an overall top search word or phrase. Instead, Microsoft grouped searches in specific categories. In the most searched consumer electronics device, the iPhone 5 (a rumored model that has yet to launch) came in fourth, behind Xbox, Playstation, and Kindle. That may be because Microsoft separated iPhone searches by models, even though it didnt do that for the Xbox.

As for the Yahoo list, six of the seven phrases that followed iPhone are all tabloid fodder--Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, and Jennifer Aniston. American Idol, Japan earthquake, and Osama bin Laden round out the top 10.

The iPhone 5 was the most popular mobile search on Yahoo, followed by Powerball and MLB. As for news searches, the Casey Anthony trial topped the list, followed by the royal wedding, and the death of bin Laden.

Kim Kardashian Boycott Its On

boycottkim.com&8203;America, the strange. As the middle class shrinks like wet sand under a hot sun, we continue to be scinated by the good life. Are we living vicariously or holding on to that 80s pipe dream of upward mobility?

Last month the Census Bureau reported that, by new measures, including spending power, almost 1 in 2 of all Americans are nearly poor.Add to that the Great Recessions lingering effects and a near-record jobless rate, and we should all be having soup for dinner and dropping our AT&T wireless plans immediately.

But no, we dream of Chanel bags and Louboutin pumps thanks in no small part to the marketing juggernaut of ...

... L.A.s Kardashian mily and its reality show empire.

We all want the Kardashian, consumer lifetyle: The hair, the toes, the bootie, the lack of money woes.

Too much Kim K., or not enough?&8203;

You might chalk it up to hard-times escapism or a new kind of real-time soap opera in which we can follow off-air Rodeo Drive purchases in real-time via Twitter.

But some have had enough.

As the Occupy nation has brought the injustice of multi-billion-dollar bank bailouts and corporate tax loopholes to light, the beacon shines lower on the totem poll, on those rich celebs we savor (and who couldalso pay more taxes).

And so right before the media slumber we call the holidays went full-snooze, aBoycott Kim Kardashiancampaign took hold.

The movements website argues that she will do ...

... whatever it takes to extend her fifteen minutes of me so that she can selfishly profit from her celebrity status. By aligning herself with brands and products to promote Kim has made millions at the expense of normal everyday Americans. Through a series of distasteful and carefully planned publicity stunts, beginning with a strategically released tape, a scripted reality show, and now a (for profit) 72 day marriage, Kim Kardashian continues to bait the media into giving her more unjustified coverage and allowing her to cash in financially.

As our friends and neighbors struggle with real problems including inflated prices for fuel and groceries, a frightening job market, and a broken and divided government, we cannot continue to be distracted by moochers like Kim Kardashian ... We do not need the added burden of explaining to our daughters why they should work hard and get an education versus the pursuit of a materialistic lifestyle by any means necessary including selling out their principles and exploiting for profit.

About time. We have seen the devil. And she wears Prada.

Some would argue Kardashian is just getting hers the way Donald Trump gets his or Bill Gates got his. Whats wrong with a sister cashing in? Is this ist?

Maybe. You have to give K.K. credit for hustling. Thats about as American as camping out on a lawn.

But wed also say, boycott them all. We cant afford anything anyway. Mind as well make it look like were a political stand.

Kris Humphries Accuses Kim Kardashian of Fraud Marriage: Was L.A. Comedian Rob Delaney Right All Along?

instead of blaming her you should blame those who day by day watch her shows ,?thats why she is mous?

Why boycott Kim? Why not boycott the Republican House, where "just say no" is their mantra for every single bill that Obama tries to pass? Kim is small potatoes compared to what the GOP has done to stick a monkey wrench into U.S. growth and economic stimulus. They are r more dangerous than any Kardashian.

The problem is that theyre already ppampering the two younger ones to take over and keep the filth going on.

The Boycott Kim online petition has already reached 501,000+Its evident that the Kardashes are in PR mode, buying everyone with hush money, but money can only last so long even when its millions. Please sign and pass it onBoycottKim.com

Boycott away, doubt it will help anything. I actually feel sorry for her. Like many other young celebrities, when her looks start to go she will likely spend every penny she ever made trying to keep her looks with surgeries until she looks just like the duchess of Alba.

Shes putrid anyway. I dont find her attractive, intelligent, or entertaining. Actually, people like her make me ashamed of being a human. Kim and that crook Snooki beast need to be crushed from above.

My girlfriend says that Kim Kardashian is very open about sensitive issues pertaining to women. Though she is truly is an attractive person, she is not afraid to talk about her cellulite and her psoriasis on the television show. It shows women that nice looking women also go through the same issues most women in America ce about their body. On that issue she seems down to earth.

She owns stores in both New York and Los Angeles, which would most likely be her exclusive line of work had she not become mous. Those stores she owns employ people, thus creating jobs. The mily employs a chef to cook healthy meals for them, thus creating a job. Is there anything wrong with her stores?

been saying this from the beginning, NO MORE KARDASHIANS. ?They have absolutely nothing beneficial to offer and if you think they do, you need to re evaluate your life right now.

Shes not so bad. How many times has she been arrested or ordered to rehab? She made and released a tape. It turned out her gamble paid off. She couldnt have predicted the enormity of her resulting me. If she goes away, the public will create another character to take her place. There will always be people to envy/hate for their unwarranted success. Kim didnt create the audience.

She got boinked by Ray J and her dad freed OJ.I guess her mily likes black dicks...Ill let myself out...

The problem I have with the KarKim Kardashiandashians/Jenners is very simply that they are very poor role models for young girls/women and this is their target market. Their language, dress, actions are not something most parents want their daughters to emulate.

You had me at "Oblamer" and "socialist". Had me dismissing you as a moron, that is.

I 100% support this boycott. When are we, as Americans, going to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. And its not as as "turning the channel" because everywhere you turn (Sears, Wal-Mart, grocery line, Midori, etc.) they are HOUNDING you with their presence!!!

How come when you are wealthy, dressing like that is not called slutty? Instead they refer to it as provocative and stylish. But if the garment is cheap and you are not wealthy you are considered a street hooker.

Thank you it is about time someone said this. ?What a crime that so many people were duped into watching her pretend wedding and now we are supposed to feel sorry for her? ?I dont think so. ?Boycott Kim !!!

No, she buys from luxury brands that are already way overpriced and doing well. She is doing nothing for the economy that affects the normal population.

I call BS on all this; merely more of Oblamers re-election team pushing a socialist agenda is all.I admire Kim. She works hard and earns what she deserves. "Kim has made millions at the expense of normal everyday Americans?" Not at all.

"But wed also say,?boycott them all. We cant afford anything anyway. Mind as well make it look like were a political stand."hahaha! agreed

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashianjusttweeteda photograph of her upcoming perfume ad. The new fragrance is called True Reflection, and we&8217;re going to be blitzed very soon with promotions for it. As seen above, Kim&8217;s taken inspiration from Old Hollywood with her hair in marcel waves, red lips and a vintage-looking silver gown with a plunging neckline. We have to say that she looks pretty sensational. The message along with the picture reads, &8220;Another pic from my new True Reflection fragrance ad campaign&8230;ultra glam! LOVE red lips! ChannelingElizabethTay.&8221; And we all know how much Kim loves her someElizabeth Taylorconsidering she shelled out $65kfor some of the late actress&8217; jewelry at an auction. Even though this looks nothing like Dame Liz, we&8217;re going to give her a hall pass for at least getting the vibe down.
